Tahoe Dancers

Thank you to the Tahoe Dance Company for protecting animals!

News

It is only through the dedication and generosity of our supporters that we are able to protect animals in need. Thank you to the Tahoe Dance Company for raising funds to help end animal suffering. Tahoe Dance Competition Company Director, Kaitlin Zimmer, tells us about the event.

1. Please tell us about your fundraiser.

This coming December 6, 2014 will be our 3rd annual Fundraiser "Movement for Awareness & Action".  It began when I saw a documentary, "The Cove", and really wanted to do something for animals in need. Being a dance teacher and choreographer I decided that the best way for me to make a difference was through dance. Our event features dance works that are put together by the dancers themselves. Each year, we raise money for World Animal Protection, Save the Children, and a local program. We raise money by selling tickets to the event, t-shirts, and hosting a silent auction and raffle.

2.  What are your goals?

The main goal is to raise money, but we also bring awareness to the great work of the organizations we’re supporting. The participating dancers have to research a subject, and then communicate that message through movement. It is then through their performance that the message is brought to the audience.

3. Why did you choose to support World Animal Protection?

We respect, admire and support your efforts, and enjoy being able to contribute what little we can to your cause. We live in a small town and the community really comes together to make this event possible. We hope that others will be inspired and find ways that they too can bring awareness to the important issues supported by World Animal Protection.
