Fly free with Flaco the owl!

Last month, World Animal Protection supported the launch of Free Bird: Flaco the Owl’s Dreams Take Flight, a new children’s book about Flaco the owl. Flaco was a captive Eurasian eagle-owl who escaped the Central Park Zoo in 2023 and lived freely in New York City for over a year. His story captivated millions and has now inspired a new children’s book.

Held in New York City at the Corner Bookstore, the book launch included a reading with author Christine Mott, owl-themed cookies, and take-home activitiesIn the book, the reader follows Flaco as he navigates the bustling streets of the Big Apple, learns to fly, and makes new friends along the way.
