10 Bean Recipes to Celebrate National Eat Your Beans Day

Where have you bean all my life?

July 3rd is National Eat Your Beans Day, which reminds us to include more legumes in our diets. Beans are typically low in fat, contain no cholesterol, and are high in folate, potassium, iron and magnesium. They also contain healthy fats and soluble and insoluble fiber. What’s more, beans are an excellent source of protein, and be a healthy replacement for meat, which has no fiber, more fat, and cholesterol.

With all of these health benefits, you might be thinking, “Where have you bean all my life?” But not only are beans great for you, they’re also an incredibly sustainable protein source. In fact, there’s no significant damage to air, water, land, soil, or forests when it comes to legume farming. The same can’t be said for livestock production, which is leading contributor to climate change.
