Myles, a macaque residing at Black Pine Animal Sanctuary.

Myles

Myles is a young long-tailed macaque who came to Black Pine in November 2025 after being found alone in a private home following his owner’s passing. No one in that person’s life knew he was there, and by the time help arrived, he was frightened and badly in need of care. Animal welfare partners were able to safely move him out of that situation, and he’s been building a new life at Black Pine ever since.

Since arriving, Myles has received the veterinary and behavioral care he needed and has settled into Sanctuary life beautifully. He’s even been paired with a fellow macaque, Leo!

Myles is also a little character. There isn’t a food he won’t eat (Brussels sprouts? Delicious. Kale? Give him more!), and he’s completely fearless. He doesn’t think twice about leaping from perch to perch or dropping down from a high platform, and he almost always sticks the landing. He may be teeny tiny, but that doesn’t stop him from shaking the perches to show the other monkeys just how big and strong he is.
