Man and his four recently vaccinated dogs in Bangladesh

World Rabies Day

Did you know that 99% of human rabies cases are transmitted via dogs?

In response, governments around the world have resorted to inhumanely killing millions of dogs every year in a misguided attempt to stop the spread of the disease.

World Animal Protection is proving that mass dog vaccination is the only way to stop the spread of rabies. We’ve worked with governments and communities in Indonesia, China, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Kenya, Zanzibar, Sierra Leone and Peru. We're running a number of vaccination programs, including our most recent in Makueni County, Kenya.

Watch this video to learn about rabies in dogs and how vaccination works to remove its threat to both dogs and people.

Help us influence governments, institutions, and communities around the globe to protect dogs from needless suffering. Donate today to make a difference for millions of dogs around the world.

We will prove that a world without rabies does not mean a world without dogs.
