It’s time for KFC to build on its successful test runs and give customers the option to enjoy a delicious plant-based chicken by adding it to its menu.
Whether you're looking to eat less meat, are vegetarian, or vegan, having more delicious plant-based products available is a good thing for consumers and farmed animals. A recent poll found that 1 in 4 Americans are eating less meat - whether it be to help animals, the planet, or their health. This shift towards plant-forward eating is something many fast food chains are embracing by adding delicious plant-based meat to its menus.
KFC successfully tested a plant-based chicken in Atlanta, Nashville, and Charlotte, and is currently testing at more than 50 locations throughout Southern California. Customers have been so excited to try the Beyond Meat product that the line has wrapped around the corner. Similarly, KFC has enormous success with test runs of a meatless product in Hong Kong, China, and Canada. But that’s not all. KFC recently announced that it’s investing in the future of meat by partnering with a 3D bioprinting firm to develop technology that will “print” chicken meat, using chicken cells and plant material.
Plant-based meats are being added to the menus of fast food chains around the world, including Burger King, Starbucks, and Pret a Manger. This convenience makes reducing meat consumption easy and affordable.
As the world's second-larger restaurant chain, KFC has already taken the first step towards creating a kinder world for farmed animals by testing plant-based chicken. Now it's time for KFC to build on its successful test runs and give customers nationwide the option to enjoy a delicious plant-based chicken by adding to its menu.
